How to Start the New School Year Off Strong
As we all know, a key factor in starting the year off great is, of course, listening in class and taking notes.
But if you really want to step up your game, the most important part is the preparation you do before the new school year - aka back-to-school prep.
Studying:
I’m gonna be real, I truly understand that no one here wants to spend their precious summer break studying for school. But trust me when I say that your future self is going to be so grateful that you did.
When I say “studying,” I don’t mean studying every day from 8 AM to 2 PM. I mean focusing on the subjects you feel like you’re lacking a bit of knowledge in. Spend a few hours studying 3–4 days a week (depending on your own preference, of course).
I know that journaling has become a trend on social media, but I’ve been journaling for the past 4–5 years, and I can truly say that it has had an positive impact on me. It allows you to reflect on your feelings and actions, and you start to understand yourself better. You discover what makes you happy and how to be more comfortable with who you are
You don’t need the prettiest accessories to start journaling. For the past 4 years, I’ve used a dotted bullet journal, a few nice pens, and, for the sake of my sanity, I print out pictures for collages because it makes journaling so much more fun.
Romanticizing school:
We all hear the same phrase every year about how we should romanticize school, but no one really tells you how to do it. The reason is because it’s different for everyone.
Some people romanticize school by waking up early so they don’t have to rush and can enjoy a slow morning. Others make Pinterest boards and dream about their near future. It’s not really about how you do it, but rather the effect it creates.
It should make your school years feel a little more exciting. You could always imagine yourself as your own Rory Gilmore, Hermione Granger, or Elle Woods.
Keep a clean space:
A very famous phrase, but it’s famous for a reason. Having a clean and organized space can make a bigger difference than you might think. When there are fewer distractions around you, it becomes easier to focus on the things that truly matter.
Before the new school year begins, I want you to deep clean your room and closet so you have a better overview of your belongings and know where everything is. But don’t stop there — organize your digital space as well.Clean up your desktop, delete folders you no longer use, and organize your PDFs by subject and school year. A fresh and organized environment can help you feel more prepared, motivated, and ready for a new school year.
School supplies:
One of my absolute favorite things to do before the new school year is going shopping for cute notebooks, pens, and all the little things that make studying feel more exciting. There’s just something so satisfying about starting the year with fresh supplies and a clean notebook waiting to be filled with new notes and ideas.
I truly believe that the little things can make a big difference. Having cute stationery makes me more motivated to take notes, stay organized, and actually enjoy studying. And don’t even get me started on school supply hauls on social media — I absolutely love watching them. They make me so excited to start a new school year and create my own fresh start.
Social media:
Last but not least — and probably the most used one by everyone here. I’ll keep this short.
Why are you spending so much of your time watching other people’s lives instead of using that energy to focus on yourself and your own goals?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you should delete social media completely. Social media can be a great source of inspiration and entertainment. But try to be more mindful of how much time you spend scrolling, and make sure you’re also putting that time and effort into yourself.

i hope you have the best school year ever!
